A hybrid of Hi-NRG, Italo Disco and Synthwave that escaped from the lab and landed on the dance floors.

Server is Andrés Perez and Antonio Ballester. It materialized in 2017 as an electronic duo, but the collective consciousness from which it sprung developed much earlier in the Lima of eurodance combis, in the brutalism of Galerías Brasil, in the gothic clubs of Santa Beatriz and in the sweaty dens where the second Limean surge of hxc punk boiled the blood of a mutant youth.

Server started its operations under the pseudonym VIDEODROME, a tribute to Cronenberg and to the aesthetics of Cine Millonario, a popular Peruvian TV show of the nineties.

Its first results were primitive and chaotic, and were documented in an early demo. This raw material came to circulate in Lima's underground music scene in the form of an animated music video directed by digital artist MR. TRONCH, and, as such, participated in alternative film festivals.

Meanwhile, Server began to install itself in the local electronic scene, appearing in parties such as PISTAS PLÁSTICAS, PROCESS and more.

SERVER proposes to return to the way electronic dance music used to be made, by manipulating synthesizers and drum machines in real time, which gives the music a human character, colored at the same time by the limitations of these machines.

In 2019 SERVER started working on their first EP in Bosque Perdido Studios, under the production of the legendary Mario Silvania. Distancing themselves from the usual work track by track, they decided to record the EP in a single take on an 8 track format, processing synthesizers and drum machines with guitar pedals and digital hardware from the nineties.

The result is a conceptual 32 and a half minutes piece with a strange sense of humor, influenced by the ridiculousness of the contemporary political scene. The work was wrapped up thanks to the mastering of José Gallo from Theremyn_4.
