about

ABOUT TETÉ LEGUÍA AND MARTÍN ESCALANTE

Teté Leguía (Lima, 1985) has been playing music most of his life. Started jamming funk tunes with some friends in a basement, that quickly lead to free improv and noise. Very active in the Peruvian experimental scene as a solo improviser and collaborator. Has been a member of Tanuki Metal Futari Plus 1, Liquidarlo Celuloide and Trio Nuna. Studied composition at the National Conservatory of Perú. Runs a free improvisation cycle of concerts called "Minutos para el fin" that occur twice a month in Lima and plays frequently with his pop band "Gomas". In June he is going to be on a tour with Martin Escalante presenting their duo album that they recorded in Oslo's Best Studio of Lasse Marhaug.

Martín Escalante (Lakewood, USA, 1983) photographer, filmmaker and self taught musician began working on the short films of his brother Amat in 1998. He was casting director and first assistant camera man on SANGRE (FIPRESCI prize, Cannes, 2005). He worked as co-writer, casting director and behind the scenes director on Los Bastardos (Cannes, 2008). He then worked with his brother as casting and behind the scenes director for the feature film Heli (best director, Cannes, 2013). In 2012 he started his label Sploosh Records on which he publishes his music as a soloist and collaborator as saxophonist. In 2014 he began touring frequently with his duo Caracol Carnívoro culminating with an 11 concert tour in Mexico along side the Norwegian rock band Moe. In 2014 he published the second issue of Meche Magazine which contains his still photography work (for adults only). In 2016 while working in Oslo on the soundtrack of his brother's new film "The Untamed" at Lasse Marhaug's Best Studio in Oslo he also records a duo album with Peruvian bassist Teté Leguía and a solo saxophone album to be released at the end of 2016, the later also produced by Marhaug.
